For Once, Not My Fault

I was up early this morning with the musical stylings of Pantera in my head (Dont ask, because I haven't the foggiest idea why) and felt as if this was going to be a bright sunshiny day :)
Well, it ended up being a good day after the locksmith let us all back in the house at 9:30 in the morning! Don't even ask how we all were locked out. Just know that we were all still in our pajamas with no shoes trying to corral Princess Leia for 45 minutes while waiting for our savior.....so to speak.
The boys decided they wanted to take it easy around the house until late afternoon instead of rushing off to Nashville Shores right away. They have been at golf camp for the past four days and were tired of running around from dawn to dusk. We had a good time lounging around and I was thoroughly soaking it in because I never get to just lounge! We ended up plugging the iPod into the Mac that is here and danced like maniacs to some of Michael's music. Mainly all those silly 'line dancing' songs for lack of a better description....Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide and who can resist a little tail feather shake to the Madagascar 'I Like To Move It'. We needed this time together and it was truly good stuff!
Oh, the reason why the tardiness of the post.....the Friday Fill In's girl was late and didn't post until after 5 p.m. I guess I could do my own fill ins but quite frankly...I just don't have it in me right now.
Tonight the boys have requested a big fish fry so I am going to run my arteries through their paces. Fried fish, my infamous hushpuppies (which have turned many people to the hushpuppy side who usually turn their noses up at said edible canine named food), and I will roast the potatoes.....one can only take so much fried food. I do think I will throw in something green....spinach salad or roasted asparagus (even though it makes your pee smell funny). I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. I know I will.... :)

1. Getting away is something I get to do the for a couple of days the week of my 40th birthday. Apparently, I am getting kidnapped by some friends and family and heading to an unknown destination. I truly cannot wait.

2. Waking up early and going for a run is a good way to start your day. (I dont actually do this but you must agree it would be a good way to start a day)

3. Coffee, tea or an extra extra large Diet Coke with light ice.

4. Tolerance and understanding in place of cynical and blaming.

5. The lights are always on in our house in some capacity. Mainly because my children take after their scared of the dark mother. I am not sure what I think is lurking in the dark but I don't want to find out either.

6. I do think I will one day be able to find happiness. I truly believe it will take a considerable amount of self-reflection first.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I am looking forward to having a nice meal with my boys and finding a movie to watch we all agree on, tomorrow my plans include heading to Nashville Shores, going to see Cars II in 3D and who can forget the fish fry, and Sunday, I want to spend another nice day with my boys and get home safely.

Lovin' The Short Weeks

I am really starting to get spoiled by my four day work week. As my life starts to settle down a bit, I am hoping this can become a regular thing in my life. I feel it is absolutely possible in the near future...we shall see. I still find it so hard to believe that one extra day can make such a difference especially since I work extra hours the other four days to make up the time. Hopefully I can seriously start a new and improved work schedule in August....fingers crossed...please please please.
This week went by quickly, thankfully but I have a feeling next week will go slow. The boys will be at golf camp all week and I will miss them...that will make the week pass a little slower than I would prefer. I know this blog entry is only 2 days late but I do hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and a wonderful Father's Day.

1. One of my favorite birthday presents was
my very first ten-speed bicycle when I was 10.

2.
I did it because it had to be done, it was as simple as that.

3. The moon
is so beautiful when its full, large and that cool orange color.

4. My future
includes four day work weeks and a complete overhaul of what I think is important in life.

5. I was tempted by
laughter and frivolity.

6.
Read, relax and other activities are some of the things I like to do on vacation. :)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
watching the Tourist and having some yummy food from O'Charleys (I never allow myself to eat there), tomorrow my plans include totally relaxing and seeing what it is like to not do anything then catching up with some friends and Sunday, I want to have a safe trip back home to pick up my kids and take them back into to town and get them ready for golf camp!

AAHHHHH, Summer Vacation

I promise I copied and pasted on Friday morning with the best of intentions. The problem....I was running behind as usual and had to get six boys together to take to Nashville Shores for Michael's belated birthday celebration. Apparently, I had lost all touch with reality when I came up with that brilliant idea. Anywho, at 830 a.m. we begin our trek to the great waterpark in the sky.
It actually turned out better than expected. The trip down was filled with fights over the single iPod, who's turn it was, when the cut off for that person should be, etc. etc. It was very interesting to hear each of the boys weave their own little web as the vied for the lone iPod. Little minds are always thinking. Once we arrived there was intermittent dissension in the ranks but it all worked out. One exhausted 4 year old and multiple burned pre-teens later....we made it home.
The evening concluded with a campfire/wiener roast (not the political one going on now) hahahaha, one of Michael's friends playing happy birthday on his Fender and some fabulous Baskin Robbins ice cream cake. For the first time during a sleepover, I was in bed before midnight and actually slept until 8...which is unheard of for me. I made Star Wars pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and link sausage for breakfast and they inhaled every bit of it. Whelp, survived another birthday party. :) Here we go............

1. I remember when I first heard
my child crying.

2.
I love to feel rain showering down on me. (sans lightening, of course)

3. Most humans
are good people they have just been thrust into bad situations that they have to fight their way out of.

4.
I will do my best...sound familiar? :)

5. I was inspired by
this persons non-judgemental ways and accepting of most things personality.

6.
This time next year? Who knows where!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
a sleepover for my favorite oldest son and his friends, tomorrow my plans include seeing my mom and hanging out...out of town and Sunday, I want to take the boys swimming and hopefully have a relaxing and drama free evening!

Four Day Work Weeks Go Faster

Well of course four day work weeks go faster than five, it is simple math. I promise I am up to date on simple math (complex, too for that matter) but what I am referring to is exponentially longer than one more number. The three day Memorial weekend was a much deserved and rewarding break from work coupled with a four day work week to follow. I can hardly believe it is Friday again and I am looking forward to yet another relaxing weekend to recharge and recooperate.
My Michael celebrated his official birthday last night with me, his best friend and (much to his chagrin) his little brother. To celebrate the arrival of his 11th year we ate at Blue Coast Burrito, a scoop of ice cream at Baskin Robbins and ended with Pirates of the Caribbean....which I really did enjoy, by the way. Not only because I have a HUGE crush on Johnny Depp but I truly appreciate his acting ability and I think he exudes a crazy amount of sexiness. The latter mentioned is way way down on my list of reasons....extremely unimportant :)
I really wish I was starting another three day weekend but that cycle doesnt start until next week. I think I only have about a half day of work today so maybe I can start a little earlier than anticipated.

1. Hey! I am doing the best I can considering the circumstances so give me a break.

2. Are the lies people tell truly a lie if they contain one kernel of truth.

3. Eat your favorite foods at least one time a week. Especially if it makes you happy.

4. One of the worst feelings in the world is to feel like your constantly in the middle.

5. First thing to note: I have got to be serious and regimented in regards to eating better for me any my children and exercise. I truly want to do another triathlon this fall but I am not even close to being ready.

6. No matter how hard I try, it has been very difficult to find a solid distraction.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching my kids at soccer practice and going out to dinner with a friend, tomorrow my plans include soccer games and heading out of town to shop and see family for the weekend and Sunday, I want to have a safe trip back home, spend some time with my children and get ready for another work week!
