It's Over....Really??

Wow, this week is already over. What the hell? One minute I was complaining about it being Monday and then....bam....over...another week of my life left to the history books. I only had to work 3 days this week thanks to the continuing education clause in my license renewal, which is required every year. Wow, that last sentence was a grammatical nightmare....anywho....I drove to Murfreesboro on Wednesday morning in a Tennessee 'Snow Storm' had class until five, shopped at Target, bought a pair of custom running shoes at Fleet Feet and then submerged myself in a great bottle of wine from Argentina, a People magazine and American Idol. No kids, wine, mag, show, Embassy.....BRING IT! Good times, good times. I begin to look back on those two days with a twinge of disdain (only because I really didn't miss my kids too bad) but quickly realize I have to take advantage of times like this.

I am the run on sentence queen!

1. Up is seriously the only direction I can go from here.

2. They say there is a virus going around however, I am not familiar with said virus nor the people who are saying 'its' going around.

3. Coats and scarves, mittens and boots: garb I would like to don only two to three days per year.

4. Because of my profession people often request a nice back rub. Hello, why would I want to bring my work home with me.

5. I'm thinking about my future which I am sure does not include selling my house in a timely manner.

6. What is now will hopefully be will be....without all the disturbances.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to playing a little Green Day Rock Band with my son and compete with the PREMIER of a new Spongebob...how will I ever compete, tomorrow my plans include getting the items together for Michael's science project and Sunday, I want to watch Michael acolyte at church, chill, and maybe try out my new kick ass running shoes!

Late, Late, Late

I believe being late is the story of my life. It all started almost 40 years ago when I decided to enter into the world almost 2 weeks late. (My poor mother) Apparently, that incident has set the tone for my entire life. That is the story I am sticking to anyway. Let's take this blog, for example. Late again, which I do realize is a serious personal problem. For some reason the fact that yesterday was Friday didn't register in my brain. I think I am going to blame this particular instance on the snowfall. I had to get out of the house and focus on getting to work safely while other people had the pleasure of lounging in the bed. :) So not fair!
At this point I am in pout mode in regards to all the snow. I am SICK of the white stuff people. I need warmth...I need to feel the warm sun on my skin...I need to don shorts and bikini tops as I dig in the mulch beds...I need my summer Fridays off!!!!

1. So many of us settle for whatever situation we are in instead of saying 'life is too short for us to allow tolerance and acceptance for certain things'

2. I have in my past and will continue in my future to keep my head up and a smile on my face at least 80% of the time even in hardship.

3. Those who are accepting of other people's quirks and differences can become more accepting of their own.

4. My future is waiting quietly.

5. Light is in both the genuine smile on the face of someone you care about and the incessant giggle of a child.

6. of all that is ordinary. (I am struggling with this one so I am leaving it blank for now. I cant seem to find anything that makes sense)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I am looking forward to eating pizza and hanging out with my extended family, tomorrow my plans include bowling or skating with the kids with a late basketball game for Michael and Sunday, I want to get some little things done around the house because those little things add up to big things.

I Thought It Was Yesterday...

All day yesterday it felt like Friday which was a huge disappointment because....well.....you guessed it....it was only Thursday. I haven't had that difficult of a week but trying to do my job when it has snowed 6 inches is very difficult. I was worried at first that I would have to use a few vacation days only to sit at home and look outside but luckily I was able to work. Vacation days should be used for VACATION....sun, beach, bikini, adult fruity beverage....you get the point.
I am so glad today is Friday......

1. Right now I need a pedicure and an hour long massage.

2. German chocolate cake coffee is what's in my glass.

3. A copy of this letter will be forwarded to the FBI in the event of my disappearance.

4. Imbibing hot chocolate is best with a spoon.

5. The best movie I've seen lately is Pulp Fiction. Was in the mood for a little Quentin Tarantino.

6. There are numerous things that I like; but only a few that I love.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to spending a little time with my mom and being there for a distraught friend, tomorrow my plans include racquetball for me, basketball for Michael and Sunday, I want to spend a little time with the boys and maybe go bowling or something.

Discombobulated Friday

So far this day should be described as Freaky Friday. Is today the 13th? NOPE. Was there a full moon in our recent past or in the recent future? Not that I am aware of. However, this day has presented itself with a wide array of weird events. To start of the morning, I discover that school in Putnam county are closed today. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. The roads are virtually dry and there is nary a flake falling. A pre-emptive attack? Who knows....personally, I think it is rather silly to close a school for an impending snowfall instead of closing it for actual confirmation of said snow. If they keep this up, the kids will be going to school into July....wait...they start school in July which means they wouldn't get a summer break at all. That would be AWESOME! not really.
Secondly, I am sitting at a red light minding my own business. Suddenly, I am becoming a witness to a car accident which is unfolding right in front of me. A guy in a pick up truck made a left turn on green (no arrow) right in front of an oncoming vehicle. Well, that's just GREAT! Since I was the only one to witness it, I decided to do my duty and wait for the cop to finish so I could give a statement.
This has been my day so far and all of this has been before eight. I feel as if I should approach the rest of my day with trepidation....the signs are everywhere.....watch for the signs!!!

1. It's 2011; I am really wanting a good year. I want it, I deserve it and I really really need it.

2. I cannot begin to express how much I love fried dill pickles. Cock of the Walk, by Opryland, has the best pickles followed closely by Captain D's. I consider myself a pickle connoisseur of sorts!!

3. Thankfully I have my health and the health of my family. I know this sounds incredibly cliche but we are seriously blessed. No allergies...nothing.

4. You can make virtually any moment into the best thing in life.

5. I am so glad Christmas is over. Not a to be a bah humbug but I am glad to have my home back to normal and schedules back on track.

6. I love to bowl even though I supremely suck at it.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a calm evening with the family and not having to cook (we have not had restaurant food in a week, so proud of the money saving and the effort), tomorrow my plans include teaching a friend to play racquetball, attending Michael's first basketball game and grilling a few racks of ribs for evening dinner (I have been Jonesing for some ribs), and Sunday, I want to relax, stay warm and catch up on some movie viewing. (I wonder if I am seriously capable of taking it easy for an entire day?)

I Should Have Known (A Poem)

I should have known my future as I settled in for the night;
the kids getting ready for bed without putting up a fight.

I should have known what was to happen since I was ready to relax;
this quiet that had surrounded me was surely going to pass.

I should have know when that first little hand roused me out of my slumber;
it was all going to start at midnight and do me in quite a number.

At the stroke of midnight, Michael approached with tears welled up in his eyes;
telling me he somehow had peed all over his toilet, walls and thighs.

Please quit crying, change your clothes and let mom go back to bed;
I will set my alarm for early in the morning in order to clean the head.

A short time later at the strike of two my youngest took his turn;
cryingly standing at the foot of the bed stating his cheek had started to burn.

I tried to bribe him with a soft place to sleep and rest beside dear old me;
he continued to cry, holding his cheek and went to the bathroom to pee.

The crying went on until well past four as his cheek he continued to hold;
as I contemplated how me getting sleep at this point would surely be considered gold.

Up at six the alarm clock blared as the night turned into day;
surely you jest, I just got comfortable and am ready to hit the hay.

A Friday Fill In Of My Own (Kind Of)

I get greatly discouraged when the Friday Fill In person doesn't have her weekly post up. Unfortunately, I am not quite creative enough to do one on my own.
This week started out fairly uneventful but turned into a stomach virus/food poisoning tirade involving yours truly. I felt like death on a stick yesterday which included all the usual fun and exciting things associated with the previously mentioned affliction. (I will spare you the details, your welcome). Yesterday was officially the second day I have called in sick at a job since I started working on July 9, 1997. I think my record is pretty good....
Anywho, the boys are beside themselves with Christmas day less than 24 hours away. Now, culminate that with the possibility of over 3 inches of snow...well...you get the picture. If it does snow tonight and we get more than a dusting, this will be the 10th measurable snowfall on Christmas day since weather record keeping began in Nashville in 1884. Pretty cool, huh. At least anyone who reads my blog today will leave with new knowledge.
We probably won't be going to my dad's in Franklin tomorrow due to the impending weather. I like visiting my dad but it is very difficult to pull the kids away from their stuff to drive an hour and a half! This will offer me an appropriate excuse, I suppose.
Tonight will involve our usual tradition of pigging out on finger foods and watching one of the best Christmas movies ever made....drum roll please....Christmas Vacation, of course.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday.
Merry Christmas

Only Eight More Days

Well, we survived the seven inches of snow we had the pleasure of receiving Sunday night. The kids played in it all day but had to come in several times to warm up seeing as the temperature was 15 degrees....brrrrr! This is the only time of the year when I am not too happy about my job. Doing home health means going to peoples homes in the snow and cold. I ended up moving most of my people and seeing as therapy is not a life or death matter, they all understood the postponement. The rest of the week was just odd. I know that sounds like a strange descriptor but even my 10 year old agreed. With school being out for snow, the kids staying up later than usual even though Marshall still went to preschool (late because I couldn't get him awake!), having to change several things around at work, Mom staying with us in the middle of the week (this really messed me up because my brain kept telling me it was Friday, that is the day she usually stays the night), and just generally feeling off. That is the perfect description of how I have felt this week, OFF!
Only 8 more days until Christmas and I have finally finished my shopping. Well, I do have a few small gifts to buy for my assistants but other than that....done. For this I am thankful.
Everyone have a safe and fabulous weekend.

1. What in the world was I thinking getting Marshall a skateboard for Christmas.

2. Whenever I go to Franklin to see my family I always leave well fed. (probably a couple of pounds heavier, too)

3. Go GET WELL!

4. I have got to get my Christmas cards sent out, such a slacker.

5. I keep hoping that miraculously, things will turn out the way they are supposed to.

6. Believe it or not George isn't at home, please leave a message at the beep.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I am looking forward to eating at Blue Coast Burrito and taking the family to the movies, tomorrow my plans include heading to Franklin and celebrating Christmas with my mom's side of the family, and Sunday, I want to enjoy the fabulous present my mom gets me every year....taking the kids for a few days so I can actual orate an entire sentence without interruption. Just when I thought it would never happen in my own home ever again!! Kid free 4 days and 3 nights...heaven.
